Choose Whisperr if…
- You want translation for audio already playing on your device — a video, a stream, a call — since Whisperr can capture your screen and system audio as well as your microphone.
- Your team lives in Zoom, Teams or Meet and wants translation inside those calls; Whisperr offers a meeting bot and screen capture for existing meetings.
- You want an installed app: Whisperr lists apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows and Android plus a Chrome extension, and states support for 100+ languages to Mingle's 60+.
Choose Mingle if…
- You need to talk to someone right now with nothing to install on either side — Mingle is a web page, so a guest at a counter can use the same phone you are holding.
- You want to try it before signing up: Mingle's guest sessions need no account and no card. They are short, so treat them as a test rather than a whole conversation.
- You are organizing a multilingual call and can send a link: Mingle hosts the meeting room itself, and each person reads captions and hears speech in the language they chose.

Both are live translators — the difference is where they live
An earlier version of this page described Whisperr as an upload-and-wait transcription tool. That is no longer accurate: Whisperr's own site describes real-time translation of spoken conversations, a Speech Mode that plays the translation aloud, and floating subtitles. So the useful question is not which one is live, since both are. It is where each one runs. Whisperr is built around installed software and capture: apps across phones, tablets and desktops, a browser extension, screen and system-audio capture, and a bot that joins meetings. Mingle is built around a web page. There is no app, and the person you are talking to does not need anything either, because both of you can use the one phone, or each open the same link.

Face to face with a stranger
At a hotel desk, a pharmacy counter or a delivery doorstep, the other person has not installed anything and is not going to. That is the case Mingle is designed around: open the page, pick the two languages, and hand the conversation back and forth on one screen, with each turn shown as captions and read aloud in the other language. Whisperr's apps also translate from the microphone, so they can be used in person too. The practical difference is setup: an installed app on your device versus a page that works on whatever device is in front of you, including a borrowed one.

Meetings: joining yours or hosting one
The two products take different approaches to calls. Whisperr brings translation into the meeting you already use, by capturing your screen audio or by sending a bot. That suits a team that has standardized on one video platform. Mingle Meet is its own meeting room: you share a link, and each participant reads live captions in the language they picked and hears translated speech, so a group with three or four languages is not forced into one shared caption language. If moving the call off your usual platform is not an option, Whisperr's approach fits better. If you can send a link, Mingle's room handles each person's language for them.

What we have not measured
We have not run an independent, side-by-side test of accuracy or delay between Mingle and Whisperr, so this page makes no claim that either is more accurate or faster. Both depend heavily on the language pair, the microphone and background noise. The fairest test is your own: try both on the pair you actually need, in the room where you will use it, and listen for names, numbers and the phrases your conversations depend on.
