Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, and every year a great many of its citizens travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and Hajj. Standing on the other side of the desk are Arabic speakers who handle them all day: hotel receptionists in Makkah and Madinah, tour operators and coach guides, pharmacists and clinic staff, and teachers at universities where Indonesian students study in Arabic. Very few of these hosts speak Bahasa Indonesia. Many of the visitors know the Arabic of prayer and recitation well, yet that is a different register from asking which floor the dining room is on.

Ideal para conversaciones reales
Mingle closes that gap from the Arabic side. You speak Arabic into a phone or computer, and the guest reads Indonesian captions on the screen, with optional read-aloud through the phone speaker or connected earbuds. One device placed between two people is enough. There is nothing to install; open mingle.fit in the browser, allow the microphone, and begin. Guests can start without an account or a card.
The hotel front desk in Makkah
A group arrives from Surabaya after a long flight, and the receptionist explains room allocations, the breakfast hours and the checkout time in Arabic. The guests read Indonesian captions on a phone laid on the counter. When a traveler asks about a late checkout, the receptionist swaps the languages, taps the mic, and reads the question as Arabic text.
The tour leader on the Madinah coach
A guide briefs the group on the next stop and the meeting point, in Arabic, while the coach is moving. Signed-in, the guide shares the session so pilgrims follow the Indonesian captions on their own phones instead of crowding around one screen. Questions from the back rows are handled by swapping direction and reading them in Arabic.
Office hours with an Indonesian student
A lecturer explains why an assignment was marked down, using grammar terms in Arabic. The student reads the Indonesian captions at a calm pace and can check each term against what was meant. For the student's reply, the lecturer swaps the direction, so the answer arrives as Arabic text before any follow-up is set.

Bahasa Indonesia is written in the Latin alphabet and runs left to right, so the captions your guest reads will look nothing like your own screen. Its grammar is also much lighter than Arabic. There is no grammatical gender, so the difference between the masculine and feminine "you" that you make without thinking simply disappears. Verbs do not change for tense or person; time is carried by small words such as sudah (already), belum (not yet) and akan (will), and by time words like besok (tomorrow) and kemarin (yesterday). That makes the captions a good place to double-check that "tomorrow" or "after Isha" landed where you meant it. Plurals are usually shown by context or by repeating the noun, and there is no dual.
The vocabulary will feel familiar and sometimes misleads. Many everyday words come from Arabic, such as ilmu, kitab, salat (also spelled shalat), waktu and masalah, but the shade of meaning has moved. Alamat is a street address, not a sign. Daftar means a list or the act of registering. Kitab usually points to scripture or a classical religious text, while an ordinary book is a buku. Address matters too: Indonesians use Bapak and Ibu (shortened to Pak and Bu) for adults they respect, Anda as a neutral polite "you", and kamu only among friends or with younger people. Someone who has completed the pilgrimage is often addressed with the title Haji or Hajjah, which is worth remembering when you greet a group leader.
Names and numbers deserve a second look on the screen. Arabic-derived names are spelled in several Latin ways, and ش is commonly written sy in Indonesian, while some Indonesians have only one name, which can look like a missing family name on a booking. Read out a room number or a time slowly, spell a name letter by letter when the spelling matters, and check the caption before you hand over a key or a prescription.
Esta página trata específicamente de Árabe → Indonesio
A session runs in one direction only, Arabic into Indonesian. When the guest answers in Indonesian, use the swap in the session menu. It ends the session, clears the captions, and starts a new one in the opposite direction, so you tap the mic again and their Indonesian arrives as Arabic text on your side. Signed-in users also get each direction saved as a separate history entry, handy for a group leader who needs to look back at what was agreed about transport times.
Preguntas frecuentes
Preguntas frecuentes
Todo lo que necesitas saber sobre la traducción de Árabe a Indonesio.
Which script do the Indonesian captions use?
Latin script, running left to right, even when your own phone is set up for Arabic. Your listener reads ordinary Indonesian spelling, so a guest who has never seen Arabic letters still follows along.
How does an Indonesian visitor answer me?
A session only goes one way, Arabic into Indonesian. When the visitor replies, open the language menu and use the swap: the current session ends, the captions clear, and a new Indonesian-to-Arabic session starts once you tap the mic again. Signed-in users keep each direction as its own history entry; a guest uses one free session per swap.
Should I speak formal Arabic or my own dialect?
Speak the way you normally would, in short, complete sentences, and glance at the captions after anything important such as a room number, a time or a price. If the Indonesian that came out is not what you meant, say it again with simpler wording.
Can a whole group follow on their own phones?
Signed-in users can share the session, and other people join from their own phone and read the captions there. One phone placed between two people also works for a single conversation, with read-aloud through the speaker or connected earbuds.
Does it work without an internet connection?
No. Mingle runs in the browser and needs a connection, whether mobile data or Wi-Fi, and there is no offline mode. Nothing has to be installed first, and guests can begin without an account or a card.
