Trade between China and Vietnam runs through places where neither side can count on a shared language: electronics and garment plants around Bac Ninh and Hai Phong, Chinese-owned factories in the industrial parks near Ho Chi Minh City, freight yards at the Guangxi and Yunnan crossings, and seaside streets in Da Nang, Hoi An and Nha Trang full of visitors from the mainland. Mingle takes the Mandarin you speak and shows it as Vietnamese captions, with an optional read-aloud so the person across from you can listen instead of reading. It works in the browser on a phone or laptop, with nothing to install.

Ideal para conversaciones reales
Each session translates one direction, here Chinese into Vietnamese. When the other person answers in Vietnamese, open the language menu and tap swap. That ends the current session, clears the captions and starts one running Vietnamese into Chinese; tap the mic again and their reply appears as Chinese text you can read before you respond. One phone placed between two people is enough, and signed-in users can also share the session so colleagues join from their own phones.
The Bac Ninh sourcing visit
You walk a Vietnamese line supervisor through a revised drawing in Mandarin, and the supervisor reads Vietnamese captions with full tone marks while the read-aloud plays through your earbuds or the phone speaker. For the supervisor's questions about batch sizes, swap to the Vietnamese to Chinese direction first, so each figure appears in Chinese characters in front of you before you answer.
The Pingxiang to Dong Dang truck handover
A Chinese freight agent confirms container numbers, weights and a pickup slot in Mandarin; the Vietnamese driver or broker follows the captions on one shared phone. When the broker replies about customs paperwork, the agent swaps the session direction, taps the mic, and reads the answer in Chinese. A signed-in agent finds each direction saved as its own history entry afterwards.
The Hoi An tailor and the Da Nang taxi
A visitor from Chengdu asks a tailor in Hoi An about fabric, fitting dates and price in Mandarin, and the shop owner hears Vietnamese through read-aloud. Later, a driver in Da Nang quotes the fare to the airport; one swap turns the driver's Vietnamese into Chinese captions, so the amount in đồng is checked on screen before anyone starts the meter.

Vietnamese is tonal, like Mandarin, but the two systems do not line up. Standard and northern Vietnamese are described as having six tones and southern speech five, against Mandarin's four plus a neutral tone, and the accents of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also differ in vowels and some everyday words. Many Vietnamese words of Chinese origin look familiar to a Chinese reader, such as quốc gia for 国家 or công nghiệp for 工业, yet the tone is different and the meaning can drift: phương tiện, from the same characters as 方便, means a means or vehicle, not convenient. Treat a sound-alike as a hint, never as proof, and check the caption.
Writing conventions deserve the same care. Vietnamese is written in Latin script with tone marks, so an unaccented guess at a name or street can point to a different word entirely. Names put the family name first, as in Chinese, though common surnames are spelled differently: 阮 becomes Nguyễn and 陈 becomes Trần. Dates run day, month, year, amounts in đồng use a dot between thousands, and large sums are counted in thousands and millions rather than wan. For quotes, dates, specifications and container numbers, rely on the on-screen text, and swap to Vietnamese into Chinese whenever you want the other side's answer in front of you before you reply.
Esta página trata específicamente de Chino → Vietnamita
The difficulty for a Mandarin speaker is rarely vocabulary alone. Mandarin leaves out subjects, never marks tense, and addresses everyone as 你 whatever their age. Vietnamese does the opposite on that last point: choosing how to say "you" and "I" means judging who is older, who is senior and how close you are. Mingle produces that Vietnamese for you, and the captions let you see what came out before a supplier or a driver hears it.
Preguntas frecuentes
Preguntas frecuentes
Todo lo que necesitas saber sobre la traducción de Chino a Vietnamita.
Will Vietnamese captions show the tone marks, or only plain letters?
Vietnamese is written with Latin letters plus tone marks and extra vowel signs, and the captions show them in full. That matters because ma, má, mà, mả, mã and mạ are six different words, so a name or an item typed without its marks can point to something else entirely.
Mandarin has no word for how old someone is relative to me, but Vietnamese pronouns do. How is that handled?
Vietnamese speakers address each other with kinship words such as anh, chị, em, ông and bà, chosen by relative age. Mandarin 你 carries none of that, so the Vietnamese output has to pick one. Read the captions to see which form came out, and if a translated sentence sounds too familiar or too stiff for the person in front of you, say the sentence again with clearer context.
Can the Vietnamese speaker answer on the same screen?
A session runs one way, Chinese to Vietnamese. To hear the reply, open the language menu and tap swap: the session ends, the captions clear, and a Vietnamese to Chinese session starts. Tap the mic again. Signed-in users get each direction as a separate history entry, while a guest spends a free session on every swap.
How should I check prices, quantities and dates in Vietnamese?
Read the numbers in the captions. Vietnamese counts in thousands, millions and billions, while Mandarin groups large amounts by wan (10,000), so 50,000 đồng is five wan, and the mental conversion is where slips happen. Vietnamese dates run day, month, year, the reverse of the year-first order Chinese readers expect, so confirm a delivery date in writing.
Do I need an app or an account at the border or on the factory floor?
No install is needed. Open mingle.fit in a phone or laptop browser, allow the microphone, and start. Guests can begin without an account or card; signing in adds saved history and longer usage on a paid plan. An internet connection is required, so check signal before relying on it at a remote crossing.
