Business trips to Austin, calls to an airline's English-language support line, and questions from an immigration officer at Heathrow all move at a pace that leaves little room to search for the right word. Mingle converts your spoken Japanese into English captions and a natural voice readback in real time, so the person across the counter, table, or phone line hears complete English sentences instead of a translated word list. A session runs in one direction; when they answer in English, tap swap in the language menu to start a new session from English into Japanese, then tap the mic again. No second app, and no switching between a dictionary and a phone call.

Ideal para conversaciones reales
Japanese speakers navigating English-speaking environments face a different problem than the reverse direction: English drops the honorific scaffolding that carries so much meaning in Japanese, replaces it with word order, stress, and a much smaller set of fixed polite phrases, and moves quickly through contractions and idioms that textbook English rarely covers. A US client review, a London customs line, and an airline call center in Chicago all expect that compressed, direct English — Mingle produces it from your natural Japanese so you are not mentally translating keigo into stilted textbook sentences under pressure.
The San Jose quarterly review
You walk a US engineering team through a roadmap slide in Japanese while your counterparts read fluent English captions and hear a natural voice readback. When they push back with questions in English, tap swap in the language menu to start an English-to-Japanese session so their concerns land in Japanese before you answer.
The Heathrow immigration line
An officer asks about the purpose of your trip and your return date. You answer in Japanese; Mingle speaks and captions it in English so the officer hears a complete sentence instead of piecing together isolated words. If they ask a follow-up, swap the session so their English becomes Japanese captions you can read calmly.
The airline call center callback
A missed connection means calling an English-language support line from your hotel room. You explain the rebooking you need in Japanese and the agent hears clear English; their hold-music apologies and new flight numbers come through once you swap to an English-to-Japanese session, so confirmation codes get written down correctly the first time.

English replaces Japanese's layered honorific system with a smaller, more literal toolkit: "could you," "would you mind," and "I'm sorry to ask" do the polite work that verb conjugation does in Japanese, and getting the register right matters more in word choice than in grammar. Mingle recognizes natural spoken Japanese, including the softening phrases and indirect requests common in business Japanese, and renders them as courteous, natural-sounding English rather than a stiff word-for-word gloss.
Watch the caption pane as your safety rail in the other direction too: English speakers often compress meaning into idioms, phrasal verbs, and fast contractions ("gonna," "lemme know") that spoken translation can smooth over but that are worth confirming in writing when a number, date, or commitment is on the line. For numbers, addresses, and confirmation codes especially — a flight number at a gate, a hotel booking reference, a contract figure in a review — read the English text on screen rather than relying on the audio alone, and swap to an English-to-Japanese session whenever you want their reply back in 日本語 to check before you answer.
Esta página trata específicamente de Japonés → Inglés
This guide covers Japanese → English specifically: the direction Japanese business travelers, students, and visitors rely on when they need to be understood clearly in English without years of conversational practice first. The shared caption screen lets an English-speaking counterpart read exactly what you meant, while Read Aloud lets you hear their reply privately through earbuds before you respond.
Preguntas frecuentes
Preguntas frecuentes
Todo lo que necesitas saber sobre la traducción de Japonés a Inglés.
Can Mingle keep my Japanese politeness level when it becomes English?
English does not carry keigo the way Japanese does, so Mingle renders natural, courteous English instead of a literal honorific-by-honorific match. Watch the caption pane to confirm the tone lands as formal or casual the way you intended before a sensitive reply.
Will English speakers understand my Japanese numbers, dates, and addresses correctly?
Yes. Mingle converts Japanese counters, dates, and addresses into the English forms your listener expects, and both are shown in the live caption pane so you can double-check a flight number or hotel confirmation before it matters.
Can I hear the English speaker's reply without asking them to slow down?
Tap swap in the language menu to start a new English-to-Japanese session, then tap the mic. Their English becomes Japanese captions and, with Read Aloud on, spoken Japanese in your earbuds, so you are not relying on your own listening speed in a noisy airport or call center.
Do I need to install anything before a business trip or a call with English-language support?
No. Open mingle.fit in your phone's browser, allow the microphone, and start talking. Guest sessions work with no account; signing in adds saved history so you can revisit confirmation numbers or meeting notes from either direction later.
