A clinic front desk in Houston, an apartment viewing in Toronto, and a car rental counter in Phoenix all move fast and run on details: dates, prices, names, policy numbers. Mingle turns your spoken Spanish into English captions and a natural voice in real time, so the person across the desk hears full English sentences instead of a phrase you looked up. A session runs in one direction; when they answer in English, tap swap in the language menu to start a new session from English into Spanish, then tap the mic again. No second app, and nothing for them to install.

This guide covers Spanish → English specifically: the direction Spanish speakers rely on when they live, work or travel where English is the language at the counter, on the phone line or in the office. The English speaker reads exactly what you meant on the shared caption screen, and Read Aloud lets you hear their reply privately in earbuds before you answer.
The clinic front desk in Houston
The receptionist needs your date of birth, your insurance and the reason for the visit. You answer in Spanish, and the receptionist reads English captions and hears a natural voice, so the form is filled from what you actually said. When they ask a follow-up in English, tap swap in the language menu to start an English-to-Spanish session and read the question in Spanish before you answer.
The apartment viewing in Toronto
You ask the landlord about the deposit, the heating and when the lease starts, in your own Spanish, and they hear clear English. Numbers matter here, so read the English caption for the rent and the dates before you agree, then swap the session to read the landlord's answer in Spanish.
The car rental counter in Phoenix
The agent explains insurance options quickly in English. Swap to an English-to-Spanish session to read them in Spanish at your own pace, then swap back and reply in Spanish: which coverage you want, where you will return the car, and the name on the booking, spelled out on screen.

Spanish carries information English has to make explicit. A verb on its own often says who did something, so the subject is left out, and English has to choose between he, she or a formal you. "Su" can mean his, her, your or their. The difference between tú and usted disappears into one English "you", so politeness travels in your tone and word choice, not in the grammar. Read the English caption before anything where the wrong "he" or "you" would matter.
Watch for words that look the same and aren't. "Embarazada" means pregnant, not embarrassed; "actualmente" means currently, not actually; and in Spain "constipado" means having a cold. Mingle translates meaning, not spelling, but if you mix in an English-looking word, check how it came out.
Numbers and names need the caption pane most. Many Spanish speakers carry two surnames, the father's then the mother's, while English forms often have a single "last name" box, so a booking may show only one of them. Dates run day, month, year where US forms run month, day, year. Spain and Argentina write a comma for decimals, and many writers still use a point for thousands, so 1.500 can mean fifteen hundred; Mexico uses the English convention and writes 1,500. And a Spanish "billón" is usually a million million: an English trillion. For a name, a date, a price or a confirmation code, read the English on screen, spell it out when it matters, and swap to an English-to-Spanish session whenever you want their reply back in Spanish to check before you answer.

أسئلة وأجوبة
الأسئلة الشائعة
كل ما تحتاج إلى معرفته عن الترجمة من الإسبانية إلى الإنجليزية.
Will Mingle understand my Spanish, wherever I'm from?
Speak the way you normally do: Mexican, Caribbean, Andean, Rioplatense or Castilian Spanish. The English captions show what was understood, so check a key sentence on screen before an important reply, and repeat a name or a number if the caption looks wrong.
Why does the English sometimes say "he" or "she" when I didn't?
Spanish often leaves out the subject: "llegó tarde" can mean he, she or you arrived late. English has to pick one, so the translation may guess. If it matters, say the subject ("mi hermano llegó tarde") and check the caption.
Will names and numbers come out correctly in English?
Check them on screen. Many Spanish speakers have two surnames, and English forms often have room for one, so say which one goes on a booking. Spain and Argentina write a comma for decimals while Mexico writes a point, and a "billón" is usually an English trillion, not a billion.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open mingle.fit in your phone's browser, allow the microphone, and start talking. Guest sessions work with no account; signing in adds saved history, so you can look back at an address or a confirmation number later.
