Closer than they used to be
An earlier version of this page said Maestra Live needed streaming software, only produced on-screen captions and translated one way. Maestra's live page no longer supports any of that: it runs in the browser with nothing to install, offers a two-way mode where both speakers use their own language, and plays the translation aloud with AI voices. Both now handle a two-person conversation, in different ways. Maestra's two-way mode translates both speakers on one device. Mingle shares the session to the other person's phone by QR code, so each person reads the other in their own language on their own screen; on a single phone, Mingle translates one direction and you swap to reply. Beyond that, choosing comes down to what surrounds the conversation.
Events and streams, or conversations and rooms
Maestra's extras point at production work: integrations with OBS, vMix, Zoom and Teams, dubbing, and voice cloning — the tools for putting a translated voice in front of an audience. Mingle's extras point at people talking to each other. Face to face, you share the session to the other person's phone by QR code and each of you follows in your own language, or, on one phone, you take turns and swap the languages. For calls, Mingle Meet is a meeting room where every participant chooses a language and reads captions in it, so a family or team spread across three languages does not have to settle on one.
Coverage and cost
Maestra states support for 125+ languages; Mingle supports 60+, which covers the widely spoken ones but not everything. Check your specific pair on both before relying on either. On price, Mingle publishes its plans — from $4 a month, billed by minutes of translation, with 10% off yearly — while Maestra's live page mentions Premium and Pro plans without listing prices.
What we have not measured
We have not run an independent side-by-side test of accuracy or delay between Mingle and Maestra, so this page does not claim either is better at translating. Both depend on the language pair, the microphone and background noise. Try each on the pair you need, in the room you will use it in.
