For many Arabic speakers, French is not a foreign language you studied once but the language of an office, a clinic or a school form. Algerians, Moroccans and Tunisians often grew up hearing it around them, while visitors and students from Lebanon, the Gulf or the Levant meet it for the first time at an airport in Paris, a faculty in Lyon, a hospital in Brussels or a clinic in Geneva or Québec. Mingle takes the Arabic you speak and turns it into spoken French and French captions in the same moment, so the person across the desk hears a complete sentence.

実際の会話にぴったり
A session runs in one direction, from Arabic to French. When the French speaker answers, open the session menu and tap swap: the current session ends, the captions clear, a new session starts in the opposite direction, and you tap the mic again. Nothing is installed. You open the site in the browser of any phone or computer, allow the microphone, and start as a guest without an account or card. A single phone placed between two people is enough, and a signed-in user can also share the session so that others join from their own phone.
The préfecture counter
You are renewing a residence permit and the agent asks for a proof of address, a payslip and a photo. You answer in Arabic, and the agent hears and reads French. When the agent replies about missing papers or an appointment slot, swap the languages in the session menu, tap the mic, and the French arrives as Arabic captions you can read slowly.
A paediatric appointment in Montréal
A mother explains her child's fever and allergies in Arabic, and the doctor reads natural French on the screen. For the doctor's questions about dosage and symptoms, the session is swapped so the French turns into Arabic captions, and each direction stays a separate entry in the history of a signed-in user.
Enrolling at a university secretariat
A student from Tunis or Amman asks about tuition steps, the student card and the deadline for the dossier. The questions go out in French captions and speech, and the secretary's answer, once the languages are swapped, comes back in Arabic, so dates and document names can be checked before the queue moves on.

French asks for choices that Arabic does not make in quite the same way. It has a formal vous and an informal tu, and with an official, a doctor or an older person vous is the safe default; every noun is masculine or feminine, which changes articles and adjectives; and written French has many silent endings, so the sound of a word and its spelling can differ a lot. Mingle renders French left to right with all its accents in the caption area, while your Arabic stays right to left, and reading the French lets you see whether the tone came out polite enough. Mingle does not offer a formality setting: the register follows what you say, so phrase a request politely in Arabic, as you would at the counter.
Numbers and names deserve a second look. French counts in an unusual way, so seventy is soixante-dix and ninety is quatre-vingt-dix in France, while Belgium and Switzerland often say septante and nonante; prices are written with a comma, as in 12,50 €, and the 24-hour clock is common. Arabic names also appear in French spellings that differ from English ones, with ou for the و sound and dj for the ج sound, so Mohamed, Mohammed and Mouhamed can all be the same person. On a form, spell the name aloud letter by letter, check it in the captions, and use the swap when you want the French answer back in Arabic captions before you reply.
このページはアラビア語→フランス語に特化した内容です
This guide is written for the situations where being understood matters more than speaking elegantly: the préfecture, the family allowance office, a university enrolment secretariat, a pharmacy counter, a shop on the boulevard, a hotel reception. Those are places where an agent works at speed, uses administrative vocabulary, and expects an answer to be short and clear. You speak in the Arabic you think in, and the French captions on the shared screen let the other person confirm what you meant.
よくある質問
よくあるご質問
アラビア語からフランス語への翻訳について知っておきたいことをまとめました。
Will Mingle address the French listener with vous or tu?
Mingle translates what you actually say, so the level of politeness in French follows the way you phrase things in Arabic. With a clerk, a doctor or a teacher, speak with the courtesy you would use anyway, and read the French captions to see how it came out before you rely on it.
Can a French reply come back to me in Arabic?
Yes. A session runs in one direction, so tap swap in the session menu: it ends the current session, clears the captions and opens a new one running French to Arabic. Tap the mic again and the other person's French appears as Arabic captions, with optional read-aloud.
I mix Arabic and French in the same sentence. What should I expect?
Many speakers from North Africa switch between the two without noticing. In a session set to Arabic, keep the sentence mostly in Arabic and check the captions, especially for names, codes and administrative terms, where a mixed phrase is the likeliest to be misheard.
Does it work without an account on a shared phone?
Yes. A guest session opens in the browser with no account and no card. One phone placed between you and the other person is enough, and signing in adds saved history and longer usage on paid plans.
Does Mingle work without an internet connection?
No. Mingle needs a connection, through mobile data or Wi-Fi. In a hospital basement or an administration building with weak signal, check the connection before you start.
