Buenos días
Buongiorno
¿Cuánto cuesta?
Quanto costa?
¿Dónde está…?
Dov'è…?
An anagrafe counter in a small comune, a pharmacy near Termini in Rome, a letting agency in Milan: each runs on details you can't afford to half-understand, from certificates and surnames to doses and deposits. Mingle turns your spoken Spanish into Italian captions and a natural Italian voice as you talk, in the browser of the phone you already carry. A session runs in one direction, from your Spanish into Italian. When the other person answers, tap swap in the language menu: that ends the session, clears the captions and opens a new one from Italian into Spanish, and you tap the mic again. Nobody installs anything, and you can start as a guest.

実際の会話にぴったり
This guide is for Spanish speakers, from Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Bogotá, Madrid or anywhere else, who need to be understood in Italian. The trap with this pair is closeness. Italian looks and sounds familiar, so both people assume they follow each other, smile, and move on. The shared caption screen is how you find out whether they really did.
The anagrafe counter in a small comune
You have moved from Montevideo to the town your great-grandfather left, and before the comune will even look at a citizenship request you must be registered there as a resident, in person. Explain in Spanish where you live and which certificates you brought; the clerk reads Italian captions. A 2025 law narrowed who qualifies, so let the office say what applies to you: tap swap in the language menu, tap the mic again, and read the clerk's list of documents in Spanish. Before anything is typed, say which of your two surnames goes in the cognome box and check it on screen.
The pharmacy near Termini in Rome
You flew in from Seville with a sore throat and a fever. Describe it in Spanish and the pharmacist hears full Italian sentences instead of guessed cognates. Then swap the session and read the instructions in Spanish: how many tablets, how many times a day, and whether to take them with food. Turn on read-aloud in one earbud if the shop is noisy, and compare the number on the caption with the one on the box.
The letting agency in Milan
You are a Colombian engineer starting a job in Milan. In Spanish you ask the agent about the rent, the deposit and the date you can move in. The agent asks for your codice fiscale, so read the 16 characters back from the caption one by one. Swap to read the agent's answer in Spanish, and remember that Italian prices use a decimal comma: 1.150,00 € means one thousand one hundred fifty euros, not one euro and change.

The Centro Virtual Cervantes puts it simply: languages that look alike are full of false friends. Burro is butter in Italian. Salire means to go up, or to get on a train or a bus, so "salgo" tells an Italian you are climbing, not leaving; to go out is uscire. Caldo is hot or heat, never broth, which is brodo. Aceto is vinegar, and the oil you wanted is olio. Guardare means to look at, not to keep something. Subito means right away, so a waiter who says "subito!" is promising speed, not warning you of anything sudden. And salato, salty, also describes a bill that is too high. If you slip an Italian-looking word into your Spanish, check how it came out on screen.
Italian also has a sound Spanish lacks: double consonants. One letter or two changes the word, so casa is a house and cassa is the cash desk where you pay; sete is thirst and sette is seven. Spanish readers tend to skim past the extra letter, so read captions with prices, room numbers or quantities carefully.
Politeness works much as it does in Spanish. Italian uses tu with friends and Lei, with third-person verbs, with strangers, and the person of higher standing is the one who suggests switching to tu. Mingle has no formality setting, so the Italian follows your phrasing: address a clerk with usted and check the caption.
Numbers will feel familiar if you are from Spain, Argentina or Uruguay: Italy writes a decimal comma and a dot for thousands, so 1.150,00 € is a little over a thousand euros. Mexicans and others who write a decimal point should slow down here. Un miliardo is mil millones. Dates run day, month, year, and official times use the 24-hour clock, written 14.05 or 14:05. Names are split into nome and cognome, with the surname often first on official forms. If you carry two surnames, say which one goes where, and check every letter on screen before it ends up on a residence record or a codice fiscale.

スペイン語からイタリア語への翻訳について知っておきたいことをまとめました。
Italian sounds so close to Spanish. Why not just speak slowly?
Because the words that look alike are where conversations go wrong. In Italian burro is butter, not a donkey; salire means to go up or to get on a bus, not to go out (that is uscire); caldo means hot, not broth; and aceto is vinegar, while oil is olio. Half-understanding feels like understanding, so the other person nods. Mingle translates meaning rather than spelling, and the caption shows both of you what was actually said.
Will the Italian use tu or Lei with the person I'm talking to?
Italian has an informal tu and a formal Lei, and Lei is the norm with people you don't know, such as a clerk or a pharmacist. Mingle has no formality setting: the translation follows how you phrase things. Speaking to them with usted is the natural way to steer it toward Lei; if the caption sounds too casual, rephrase and say it again.
How do my two surnames fit an Italian form?
Italian forms ask for cognome (surname) and nome (given name) separately, and official documents often put the surname first. Say which surname or surnames go in the cognome box, then check the caption letter by letter. The codice fiscale is built from your surname, name, date and place of birth, and only the code issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate counts, so a misplaced surname is worth catching at the counter.
I speak Rioplatense Spanish with vos. Will it understand me, and which Italian will I hear?
Speak the way you normally do. Mingle has one Spanish setting and one Italian setting, with curated slang hints for Spanish among its 14 languages. Accuracy by region or dialect has not been measured, so read the Italian caption before anything important. On the other side, Italians speak regional Italian whose sounds and everyday words change from Milan to Naples; when you swap to read their reply, the Spanish caption is where you confirm it.
What do I need to use it in Italy?
A phone or computer with a browser and an internet connection, either mobile data or Wi-Fi. Open mingle.fit, allow the microphone and talk. Guest sessions need no account and no card; signing in adds saved history, handy for keeping an address in Milan or a list of documents from the anagrafe.
お互いにアプリは必要ですか?
いいえ、必要ありません。すべてブラウザ上で動作します。双方向で会話するには「セッションを共有」をタップしてQRコードを見せましょう。相手は自分のスマホで、自分の言語で参加でき、アプリもアカウントも不要です。1台のスマホを共有する場合は一方向のみの翻訳になり、相手が答えるときはセッションメニューから言語を入れ替えます。
この言語ペアはMingleを無料で試せますか?
